The Extreme "Right"

By all measures Republicans have moved more extremely right than the left has moved left. There are obnoxious nuts on both sides, but in my view many Republicans sitting in the US House of Representatives are as crazy and obnoxious as the left-wingers who are excluded from the Democratic Party, such as Michael Moore.

I think this difference is because the right extremists are more organized (the far left usually cannot tie its shoe laces) and because the right wing nuts have a lot of money behind them. Hence they are more dangerous to America. (But see the Extreme Left page for some balancing entertainment.)

The alt-right is a huge mishmash of conspiracy theorists with a lot in common. Now that includes Donald Trump. The problem is, Trump is not just an awful theory, like the idea that Sandy Hook was a left/government plot (1M pgs) similar to human-animal hybrids (5M pgs). His chance of taking the presidency is better than your chance of losing at Russian roulette (Nate Silver). And you probably don’t want to take that chance. So you need to know what the heck you’re up against. First, who are they?

One simple test will identify most of them. Twenty-nine percent (29%) of Americans think Obama is a Muslim. Virtually all of these will be Trump supporters. That’s about 70% of his supporters. But some of his alt-right supporters don’t believe this nonsense, so perhaps 75% to 80% of Trump’s support is alt-right.

41% of Trumpsters Favor Bombing Fictitious Disney City

Trump’s Unpatriotic Republican Base

Think back to World War II, before Republicans became anti-Uncle Sam and anti-US-government. Back then it was patriotic to refuse favoritism because your father was a top military commander, as McCain did.

And no buffoons ridiculed you if you were in a plane that got shot down over enemy territory. And if you showed defiance and even humor, despite being tortured, yes, you were a war hero.

So what is with the 20% or so Republicans that think they are patriots but stick with draft-dodger Trump when he ridicules war-hero McCain? No, the Tea Party is not patriotic. Waving the flag, whether the US or the anti-US confederate flag, is not enough. Not even close.
