The Paris climate summit is the sequel to the Copenhagen climate conference. But perhaps more dangerous, because the UN learned from past mistakes and this time it has coopted and snookered the environmentalists. They’re now cheering for an agreement that even OPEC loves. We’ve read the EU and [Read more…]
Krugman on Terrorism — Almost Right
Krugman’s op-ed on terrorism is generally excellent. No, those puny terrorists can’t destroy western civilization, a spectre raised by Jeb! Bush, who apparently learned nothing from his big brother. And yes, appeasement (as the Liberals in Canada are doing) is a dreadful idea.
But right at the end he misses the most horrible truth when he says “Do you remember all the pronouncements that 9/11 would change everything? Well, it didn’t — and neither will this atrocity.” Unfortunately Krugman’s dreaming. So what did 9/11 change?
By enabling the Rumsfeld-Cheney-Bush overreaction, it caused: [Read more…]

|Teasr was here.|Is Bernie another Obama?
Bernie knows it’s nonsense, but he’s not saying. He’s happy to have people fall for this line. 2015 is like 2007 and Bernie is like Obama. Let’s take a look.
- This time in 2007
- Hillary had 125 Democratic endorsements
- Obama had 47

|Teasr was here.|Bernie Get Elected? With 28%? That’s Insane
In 1980, just before he won his first election, Bernie Sanders made a documentary about socialist Presidential candidate Eugene V. Debs. Bernie’s known the electoral score for 35 years. So why won’t he tell his supporters?
Debs ran for president five times, getting a high of 6% of the popular vote in 1912. If Bernie ran as a Democrat (which he’s not and never has been), he just might get as much as 28% of the vote!
That would leave the Republican candidate with 70% (2% independent), by far the biggest landslide of any president in history. Second place would then go to Lyndon Johnson who got 61% in 1964. [Read more…]

|Teasr was here.|Trump Is Toast
Update (Aug 13). Nate Silver has now analyzed seven pairs of pre-post-debate polls. Trump came in next to last (Walker last) with a 2.3% slide pre to post. Not as bad as Rasmussen found, but he is still Toast. Next-to-last out of 17 is not going to frighten the GOP establishment, which is still out to do him in. Of course, he can still run on his own, if he doesn’t like Murdoch and the Kochs dictating the Republican nomination. [Read more…]

|Teasr was here.|The GOP Ticket: Bush and Fiorina
You read it first here. The 2016 Republican ticket will be Jeb and Carly. No, the GOP establishment is not going to listen to its base. Not after Ted Cruz said they were all slaves to K-Street lobbyists.
Fox News just took out Trump and and pumped up Fiorina. She’s not part of the political establishment (though she once tried to be) but she is part of the corporate establishment and that’s who lobbies Congress. So no chance [Read more…]

|Teasr was here.|GOP Establishment Bulldozes Trumpers
The GOP establishment has now picked its ticket. And Trump’s not on it. Not even close. You can thank Rupert Murdoch, the godfather of Fox and the Wall St. Journal. Not that Murdoch alone decided, but he put out the contract on Trump.
So dear Trumpers, you were right, the Republican establishment is not lettin’ you—or your kind—in. But I must say, you are pretty naive blaming it on Megyn Kelly. You think she sets Fox policy? Really? On July 12, Murdoch tweeted [Read more…]

|Teasr was here.|The Republican Debate and the Democrats
It was obvious. I predicted before the debate that the Rs would go after Hillary not Bernie. In the main debate it was 16 jabs at Hillary to zero at Bernie. No use attacking the guy you want to run against.
The surprise was that Carly Fiorina won both debates and then wiped the floor [Read more…]

|Teasr was here.|Bernie — The Koch Brothers’ Secret Weapon
I’m sticking my neck out and making a prediction you can check — tomorrow. The Republican debate will focus heavily on Hillary, not Bernie. Here’s why. If they have to run against Bernie, they’ll all think they’ve died and gone to heaven. Now, I figured that out myself and I’m sure you did too, but it’s far from original. So let’s not get too smug if we’re right tomorrow.
As the left-wing Guardian points out, what amazes Republicans is that “an ex-hippie from Vermont is the only one who can affect her standing with voters.” They haven’t been able to touch her. Unfortunately, he can’t win for POTUS. So if he knocks her out, and he just might, who does that leave us with? Not Hillary, not Bernie … so … OMG, Bush III. Or worse.
But why can’t he win? ZFacts will go into that in the next few weeks, but simply put, an avowed socialist that knocks out the favorite Democratic women’s candidate (again) and doesn’t appeal to minorities, is not going to beat two Republican Parties (the Koch’s dark party is now the bigger of the two). Bernie just looks good now because (1) all the Republicans want him to win and (2) Hillary is going easy on him while he subtly hammers on her.
The sad thing is, none of this is necessary or even good for Bernie’s base. Since he can’t win, he should be furthering his cause rather than helping Republicans. How? Simple. Push his ideas. Attack Rs instead of Hillary and explain (correctly) that she cannot take the far-left positions he does because it’s her job to beat the Republicans in 2016. We need her to do that. (But you knew that.) We also need to discuss some things a serious candidate can’t say.
But there’s still some hope. Perhaps the Kochs will get so sure that with Hillary out they can elect any jerk they want that they will go for Scott Walker. And maybe Elizabeth Warren will surprise them and take out Walker. OK, I’m grasping at straws. But with the far left still helping the Kochs, it’s gonna take a miracle.

|Teasr was here.|Bernie Can’t Win — So Who’s He Helping?
I like Bernie. He says a lot of good stuff. But he can’t win the nomination and he can’t be President. He could usher in Jeorge Bush III. But don’t take my word for it read Nate Silver, the best political stats guy out there. Now a lot of Sander’s supporters will think I just said I’m against him. They should start over from the beginning. Sanders cannot win. Neither can you — doesn’t mean I don’t like you. Can we get that straight?
That leaves two possibilities, Bush III or Hillary Clinton. They’ve got the money. Now Sanderites will say I’m for money politics. No. [Read more…]
