Update (Aug 13). Nate Silver has now analyzed seven pairs of pre-post-debate polls. Trump came in next to last (Walker last) with a 2.3% slide pre to post. Not as bad as Rasmussen found, but he is still Toast. Next-to-last out of 17 is not going to frighten the GOP establishment, which is still out to do him in. Of course, he can still run on his own, if he doesn’t like Murdoch and the Kochs dictating the Republican nomination.
From Aug. 11: As we explained, Murdoch (Fox News and Wall St. Jorunal) put out a contract on Trump. And Megyn Kelly did the hit. Trump’s poll numbers just slid from 26% to 17% in the latest Rasmussen poll.
Unfortunately, other polls (such as PollMonkey) have Trump’s support still fairly strong. By the same token, a preponderance of respondents say Trump “lost” the debate. I say Trump wins any time he can shock people with another one of his zingers. He appeals to the
unregenerate racist, sexist Republican basebecause he can say out loud all those things that other candidates don’t dare to say.The things they do say are even worse, when you think about it: three of them said they would outlaw abortion even in cases where the woman’s life was in danger, making pregnancy a potential death sentence for the victim.
After finding zfacts in a search for national debt as percent of gdp, I was thrilled to find your information about the feud between Trump, Murdoch, and Ailes. Other news media sites have skirted around this issue, but it seems that Trump and Ailes have made up, thus Trump’s statement that “his word is good.” Meaning that he won’t have to face Kelly again, and the rest of Fox News will treat him with kid gloves (“fairly.”)
Good comment, but be careful about generalizations. What I crossed out is true in some cases, but looking on Bernie Sander’s Redit page I found someone who was for Sanders first and Trump second. Several others thought this might make sense. People think all kinds of crazy things.
But don’t worry, big GOP money and big Koch money will kill Trump, and the poll I cited is the more reliable one. So it’s quite likely he’s already a zombie.
