The left extreme is often as anti-science as the extreme right. The difference is the lefties claim to love science and that science is on their side. But they want to interpret the science for you. Here are some of the main anti-science themes on the left:
- GMO are dangerous to your health
- Cell phones, power lines, and smart meters cause all sorts of health problems
- Fluoride in the water causes health problems
- Gluten causes health problems
- Roundup in even trace amounts causes health problems
There seems to be a theme here. Anything affected by science is liable to cause health problem. Strangely all of these health problems are so minute that science is basically unable to detect them. Meanwhile the country suffers from huge, super-obvious health problems that the same people completely ignore.
These these are caused by over-eating, too little exercise, alcohol, tobacco, illegal drugs (which should mostly be legalized, but discouraged much more than even tobacco has been). But none of these allow the extremist to feel they know more than the rest of us, so that’s no fun at all.
