We want to know what you think. On Feb 4 in New Hampshire, Bernie said Hillary was part of the establishment because of taking contributions from Wall St., the drug companies and other special interests.

Hillary accused Bernie (YouTube exact time link) of saying she had been “bought,” and continued “I just absolutely reject that, Senator, and I really don’t think these kinds of attacks by insinuation are worthy of you. And enough is enough. If you’ve got something to say, say it directly. But you will not find that I ever changed a view or a vote because of any donation that I ever received.  … So I think it’s time to end the very artful smear by you … Take the poll.

Bernie did not deny that he’s been smearing her by insinuation. In fact in “reply” he made no mention of Hillary and instead discussed (or rather, shouted out) a wonderful attack on Wall St., prescription drugs, climate-change-denying Republicans, the Koch  brothers and Exxon. Now we love that. But his grimaces showed real discomfort at her charge, which appeared to hit home. So why didn’t he deny smearing Hillary?

One further observation seems relevant. Bernie’s non-reply was a convincing argument that private money strongly influences government and this was presented as if it were a rebuttal to Hillary’s point. So it was again an insinuation that she has been corrupted and will not even admit that campaign contributions corrupt the political process. But of course this insinuation is false. We all know this, and she says so, has worked hard in the past for campaign finance reform and will again in the future.

Although Bernie is 100% right about the influence of money, this in no way proves that every elected official who takes money from interest groups is corrupted by it. For example a PAC that favors Hillary has received $7 million from a super rich hedge-fund manager by the name of George Soros. You may have heard of him. In the past he has been a major funder of Moveon.org, perhaps the most influential organization backing Sanders. Does this mean Clinton is controlled by Soros? Most of her money, like Sanders’ money comes from liberal sources, who of course seek influence just like conservative sources.
