CANTON, Ohio — Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said in an interview here that he remains unwilling to say that President Obama was born in the United States. —Washington Post, September 15 at 7:34 PM EDT.
WASHINGTON — Hillary Clinton on Thursday night denounced her rival Donald Trump for his continuing refusal to admit President Barack Obama was born in the United States.
“He was asked one more time, ‘Where was President Obama born?’” Clinton said to the audience at a black tie affair at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s 39th awards gala. “And he still wouldn’t say Hawaii. He still wouldn’t say America. This man wants to be our next president? When will he stop this ugliness, this bigotry?” —Politico, 09/15/16 10:04 PM EDT
Then from ABC News: In what appears to be a major reversal, Donald Trump, one of the main proponents of the birther movement, conceded tonight, through a spokesperson, that “Having successfully obtained President Obama’s birth certificate when others could not, Mr. Trump believes that President Obama was born in the United States.” —Sep 15, 2016, 10:28 PM EDT
He was not even man enough to make the statement in person.
Friday morning update: Trump finally admits in person that Obama was born in the USA. Hillary calls for an apology for the five-year delay.
So there you have it. Five years, 141 days after Obama releases his long-form birth certificate (on April 27, 2011), Trump finally gets pressured into admitting he was just causing trouble all along. In fact I’m sure he knew from the start (he’s not an idiot) that Obama was born in Hawaii, and just wanted to grab attention and distract from Obama’s success ending Bush’s Great Recession with his massive jobs stimulus.
His recent admission proves he’s just been lying all along:
Between seeing Obama’s certificate and now when he says he accepts it as true, he learned nothing new. He does not even bother to make and excuse for the 5-year delay. So he knew all along, yet this is what he was saying while he knew, just as he does now, that Obama was born in Hawaii:
- Aug 6, 2012: “An ‘extremely credible source’ has called my office and told me that @BarackObama’s birth certificate is a fraud.”
- Aug 27, 2012: “Why do the Republicans keep apologizing on the so called “birther” issue? No more apologies–take the offensive!”
- Sept 13, 2012: “Wake Up America! See article: “Israeli Science: Obama Birth Certificate is a Fake”
- Aug, 2013: “Was it a birth certificate? You tell me. Some people say that was not his birth certificate. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t. I’m saying I don’t know. Nobody knows.” ABC News.
- Dec 12, 2013: “Well, a lot of people don’t agree with you, and a lot of people feel it wasn’t a proper certificate.” (here)
- 2015 on Fox: “Hey look, [the president] wrote a book when he was a young man and it said ‘born in Kenya,’ blah blah blah. I don’t know where he was born.” (here)
Ironically, after distracting the country with his ridiculous birtherism for eight years, Trump’s excuse for not answering the question during the Washington Post interview was, “The reason I don’t [answer] is because then everyone is going to be talking about it as opposed to jobs, the military, the vets, security.”
Unaware that Hillary had made a quick recovery from her pneumonia and would be coming after him, he tried one last time to prolong his call to bigotry, “I’ll answer that question at the right time,” Trump said. “I just don’t want to answer it yet.” Little did he know, “yet” would comes so soon.
But 70 million Americans still think Obama’s a Muslim
Now, I wonder when he will tell his supporters that Obama is not a Muslim. He has contributed greatly to the fact that 70 million Americans (29% of 242 million adults) believe that. Trump is deplorable, and that’s putting it mildly.
