Did you know: Bernie Sanders has a commitment to “normalized white supremacy“? If not, you haven’t been paying attention to Jill Stein’s pick for VP, Ajuma Baraka. He also has a view on Bernie’s supporters. They are an “ideological prop [for a] capitalist-imperialist settler state.”
This is likely half the reason you will not find any mention of Jill Stein by Bernie Sanders. The other half is likely her support for the world’s leading gangster capitalist.
Many of Bernie’s supporters are disappointed in him, although he has said from the start that it would be crucial to his revolution to elect Clinton not Trump if he didn’t get the nomination. (Read Michael Moore on The Hope and The Danger.) But I don’t think many would view Bernie as a white supremacist or a capitalist-imperialist. And he is certainly no fan of ex-KGB agents.
With nearly four million Bernie-Sanders supporters intending to vote for Jill Stein (see Nate Silver), learning who Stein really is might help to convince them to vote for Clinton instead of helping Trump.
Listening to Ajuma Barak, you might think Jill is far to the left of our favorite Senator. But actually, she’s pals with gangster capitalist and ex-KGB (secret police) agent, Vladimir Putin. I’m not making this up. Even socialists view the Russian economy as gangster capitalism—the worst form of capitalism. And the Russian Green Party views Jill as Putin’s “accomplice.”
“How is it possible [for Jill Stein] to have a discussion with Mr. Putin and not mention, not even once, the fate of Russian political prisoners, or the attacks against Russian journalists, artists, and environmentalists? Is it fair to speak with him about ‘geopolitics’ and not mention new Russian laws against freedom of speech, restrictions on NGOs and activists, or the shameful law that forbids ‘homosexual propaganda’?” —Chirikova and Kutepova (Green Party)
[The law against ‘homosexual propaganda’ has led to increased attacks on gays by neo-nazis and “Jail Time for Being Gay in Russia.” (CNN video).]
Putin (left) and Stein at RT News’ 10th anniversary gala
RT News, Assad and Jill Stein
Chirikova and Kutepova, Russia’s two leading environmentalists (now in exile) are not just talking, in their quote above, about a casual conversation. Jill was invited by Putin to sit with him (and Trump’s national security advisor, General Michael Flynn) at the head table at RT’s (Russian Times) 10th anniversary gala in Moscow. She’s a big fan of RT and attended its New York gala as well.
But is Jill Stein really a fan of RT’s propaganda, or does she just like caviar?
RT’s TV and web site is the premier voice of Russia’s foreign propaganda effort. For example, when Assad gassed close to 1,500 civilians, causing a huge international outcry, Assad and RT had a different story (The Guardian).
Wikipedia notes that, “The Syrian and Russian governments blamed the opposition for the attack, the Russian government calling the attack a false flag operation.” The theory is that the rebels gassed their own people and set it up to look like Assad did it.
Jill Stein also called the gas attack a “false flag” attack. She later tried to scrub this interview off the internet, but one website managed to dig up a copy and you can hear her “false-flag” claim at minute 24:46.
Fortunately, Human Rights Watch plotted the trajectories of the missiles and showed they came from a large military base that is home to Assad’s Republican Guard 104th Brigade (BBC). In the end, the international community destroyed 600 tons of Assad’s chemical weapons. Jill Stein, Putin and RT News are still backing Assad.
Gaddafi and Jill Stein
Stein also sides with Gaddafi. He had threatened to slaughter Benghazi’s population “like rats.” The pro-democracy rebel leaders pleaded for Western intervention, including a no-fly zone. The 22-nation Arab League requested it and the UN approved it. But not Jill Stein. The intervention came only as Gaddafi’s tanks approached a defenseless Benghazi.
The US-European intervention was short, took no casualties, and did not try not to interfere once Gaddafi was stopped. But factionalism and ISIS have led to a dismal situation. So why does Jill Stein think we should have let Gaddafi slaughter Benghazi’s pro-democracy rebels like rats? Her only answer is to blame Clinton (and not Gaddafi) for the most “horrifying example of the head-long plunge into reckless militarism.”
Brexit and Jill Stein
“The vote in Britain to exit the European Union (EU) is a victory for those who believe in the right of self-determination and who reject the pro-corporate, austerity policies of the political elites in EU.” So said Jill Stein. You can find that quote all over the place but not on pro-Stein sites. They’ve scrubbed it. As HuffPo pointed out it sounded very similar to Trump.
But that misses the point. Both Jill Stein and Trump look very favorably on Putin, and Brexit was a major victory (against EU unity) for Putin (HuffPo). RT News was pro-Brexit leading up to the Brexit vote. Jill bought that until she found out Bernie supporters did not.
Is Jill Stein a closet gangster capitalist?
Absolutely not. She is simply motivated by “my enemy’s enemy is my friend.” And since she considers the US government and both political parties to be her enemies, she sees Putin, RT News, Assad and Gaddafi as friends. This is why Bernie will not even acknowledge her existence. Bernie sees Denmark as a model for the US because Denmark has good social policies. Jill favors Russia and Assad because they hate the US. That’s stupid. Bernie is smart.
Jill’s approach is not only ridiculous, but as Bernie well knows, that approach has poisoned the American socialist movement for generations.
One Final Puzzle: Why does Putin like Jill?
Jill obviously feels that Putin fawns over her because he is a peacenik like her. This is silly. She will never have any real influence, so what does he care? Well there’s one way she could matter. If it’s a close election, she could throw it to Trump. Putin is no dummy.
